Great opener, but no release date or summary. As the Vikings continue their journey to explore new horizons, new dangers await them season after season. With the European Kingdoms finally united under one banner and no longer threatened by pillaging Norsemen on the horizon, Queen Lagertha is free to give her full focus on power and glory. King Harald Finehair doesn't care about his father's legacy of conquering kingdoms outside of his own polity; he just wants more plow horses in Norway! The only problem is that there are none for sale or trade in Europe. King Harald begins negotiating with other kings for stronger swords that would cut through iron, but had little success. Discouraged, he begins to believe he might never achieve his goals. King Aelle is finally united with his wife Judith and their newborn son, but to his horror finds she has given up her Christian beliefs for the old gods of the Vandals. Jealous of her beauty and position as Queen, Aslaug tells everyone that King Aelle has stolen the baby from his real parents. The young parents are branded as criminals by their people. Kalf gets to see first hand how effective Lagertha's shieldmaidens are at keeping Wessex under control when they defend Ecbert's villa against an attack led by Aethelwulf. While fighting alongside Kalf and the shieldmaidens, Aethelwulf and his wife Judith realize they both have a common enemy: Lagertha. But will Aethelwulf turn against his own mother to take revenge on Lagertha? Ubbe and Hvitserk take matters into their own hands to attack England and ensure that they will be remembered as great warriors. They bring along Gaute, hoping he will not only be able to maintain what they seize, but that his presence will cause Wessex to accept them as rulers of England. Ivar the Boneless has plans of his own; he sets sail for Ireland with a fleet of Viking warriors and weapons in hand hoping it's soft prey. Bjorn Ironside has his sights set on another new land to conquer with the help of his brother Hvitserk. Bjorn's plan is to sail westward across the great ocean with a great fleet of Viking ships, but will he be able to get past the dangerous glaciers that have caused so many of his fellow Vikings to perish? As Ragnar's sons are setting off on their own adventures, the Great Heathen Army makes their way toward Wessex with plans for conquest. However, King Ecbert believes he has found an ally in King Aelle of Northumbria. Ecbert promises him relics from Rome and other treasures in return for his allegiance. However, Aelle is not convinced that Rome cannot help him defeat his enemies. He asks Ecbert to send him two missionaries, Brother Aiden and Brother Beadan. Brother Aiden's first task is to become acquainted with the Northumbrian people and culture, but he quickly becomes an outcast among the Northumbrians. When King Ecbert agrees to teach them about his religion, it begins a tentative relationship between the two rulers that will change their lives forever . Beadan's task is to travel south into England, where he encounters Lagertha and treacherously persuades her to give up her sword. cfa1e77820
